Hudig Freight Services (since 1997 the new name of the forwarding and warehousing division of the Hudig Veder & Dammers Holding) today offers customers comprehensive support in the form of an innovative, controlled logistics concept from source to final consumer.

 

 

Drawing on its time-tested expertise, HUDIG Freight Services helps client to strengthen their market position. With the HUDIG Electronics Logistics Information Centre (HELIC) at their disposal, clients are able to retrieve all essential real-time information of warehouse handling & distribution services. Furthermore, a unique, advanced calculation system enables clients to quantify differences between the existing supply chain structure and possible new options. The resulting advantage: a clear perspective on feasible distribution strategies, new facilities, stock policies and services to be used.

1. Logistics and Warehousing

  

 

NEW DISTRIBUTION CENTRE FOR HUDIG FREIGHT SERVICES

Recently Hudig Freight Services started the construction of a new distribution centre at Moerdijk the Netherlands.

 

In order to coop with all requirements for storage and Value Added Services, as well as integrate the logistic activities of one of their shareholders Van Der Helm, a new hub at a central place was needed.

 

The new location Moerdijk is exactly in between the seaports Rotterdam and Antwerp with all kinds of multimodal possibilities via road, rail and barge services. Furthermore an excellent infrastructure to all main highways in The Netherlands for further European distribution is available.

 

This new centre has the following specific details, total 40.000m2, internal height 14 mtr, 8 compartments of which 6 will be used for pallet racking system via an narrow lane method with man-up trucks. The total capacity is about 75.000 pallets.

 

Several VAL services options are available such as an assembly line, testing and sorting line for high valuable electronics as well as a modern packing lane for kitting and repacking activities.

 

The internal logistics will be managed by an advanced WMS/ERP system, linked with Radio Frequency Barcode scanners which create real-time information for all clients via Hudig's web report server HELIC which is available 24/7 via an unique accescode and password.

 

By building this new hub, Hudig is replacing 6 locations in Rotterdam area; however 2 locations will remain in Rotterdam for specific activities and clients.

 

The new hub will be mainly used for present and new clients in the IT/Consumer Electronics/Textile industry.

 

The new hub will be operational as of 1st of December 2007.

HUDIG Freight Services  Warehouse Management System, connected to the HELIC system, is capable of providing numerous kinds of reports which facilitate the reduction of stock levels and operation costs. Daily in- & out-take reports, stock lists, tracking & tracing of shipments can be retrieved from our Internet site via an unique personal acces code. In addition, financial statistics for all warehouse handlings, ABC analyses and performance sheets can be supplied from the Warehouse Management System as well.

Communication can be effected via EDI/Internet, fax and office server.
